The process of registering Sevdalinka on UNESCO's intangible heritage list has begun and a conference was held in Tuzla today.
The activities on which the team of experts appointed by the Bosnian Commission after the nomination will work in the coming months were presented. In an effort to preserve the original form of the Sevdalinka and not to "desecrate" its interpretation by the arrangement and presentation, the Association of Musicians Tuzla has organised the Sevdalinka Festival since 2008.

Sevdalinka is a song of enormously high poetic, musical and historical value. It affirms the local cultural identity, is handed down from generation to generation and is a source of inspiration for interpersonal exchange. It represents a unique heritage of living tradition. It has been constantly renewed, interpreted, continues to this day and will continue to do so. She lives, that is important for UNESCO, on whose list she should rightly be included.

The Bosnian-Herzegovinian Sevdalinka artist Božo Vrećo will give a concert on 24 February in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Brussels (The National Basilica of the Sacred Heart), according to Klix.ba.
This concert is one of the projects through which the non-profit cultural-artistic association Gratiartis tries to present the Sevdalinka in the capital of Europe in the best light, to include it in UNESCO's list of intangible cultural assets.

Recently, in Sarajevo, a book entitled "Sevdalinka - the Alchemist of the Soul" has been published in Norway by Dr. Esad Bajtal. Sevdalinka as a cultural phenomenon of BiH space was created, as the author says, in the real-life reality that emerged from a specific mentality and cultural-historical identity.
